UPDATE: A second case, unrelated to the first, has been confirmed in a Grant County beef herd.
BISMARCK – North Dakota’s state veterinarian says the state’s first reported case of anthrax this year is a reminder to livestock producers to take action to protect their animals from the disease, especially in areas with a past history of the disease. The case, in Grant County, was confirmed yesterday by the North Dakota State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.

BISMARCK – Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring announced the availability of a royalty oversight program after its creation by the 68th Legislative Assembly earlier this year. The program will provide technical assistance and support to royalty owners, lease owners and mineral companies relating to royalty payment issues, as well as educational outreach.

BISMARCK – North Dakota’s state veterinarian is reminding livestock producers to vaccinate their animals against anthrax, following the recent detection of the disease in northwestern Minnesota. Dr. Ethan Andress says that with the recent weather events, conditions are right for the disease to occur.
