BISMARCK – The inclement weather advisory calling for a major winter storm for a significant portion of the state this week is another hit to livestock producers.

“We hope that producers were able to move cattle back home or to areas with protection from the potential storm conditions being forecasted,” Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring said. “Producers should keep in mind that feed supplies need to be close to where cattle are being fed.”

Goehring added that with the extreme wet conditions and excessive moisture, it has been difficult to gather hay supplies and move them this fall.

“The Hay Hotline is still available for those needing more hay or needing hay transported,” Goehring said. “We recognize it’s been tough to put forage up and get it hauled this year.”

The Hay Hotline may be reached at 701-425-8454. A self-service Hay Hotline map is also available at http://www.nd.gov/ndda/.
