BISMARCK – Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has announced North Dakota Agricultural Products Utilization Commission (APUC) awards for four projects. The requests totaling $254,258 were approved at the APUC quarterly meeting Nov. 20 in Williston.

 

APUC is a program of the North Dakota Department of Agriculture that administers grant programs for research and development of new and expanded uses for North Dakota agricultural products. The grants can be used for basic and applied research, marketing and utilization, farm diversification, nature-based agritourism, prototype and technology and technical assistance.

 

The following requests received approval:

 

NDSU Department of Microbiological Sciences was awarded $47,765 to test two novel anti-microbials on chicken. Contact Birgit Pruess at 701-231-7848.

 

NDSU Department of Coatings and Polymeric Materials was awarded $56,493 to scale up synthesis of soybean oil-based acrylic monomer for commercial acceptance. Contact Andriy Voronov at 701-231-9563.

 

Dyna-Flo Pump Co. was awarded $75,000 to expand dealers for Dyna-Flo Pumps. Contact Dana Rosendahl at 701-742-3223.

APUC will hold its next grant application hearing on Feb. 19-20, 2020, in Bismarck. Applications for the February meeting must be received by Jan. 1, 2020. Prototype and technical assistance applications must be received by March 1 for the May 20-21, 2020, meeting.
