BISMARCK – In celebration of Ag Literacy Week, March 17-21, 2025, fifth and sixth grade educators in the state are invited to apply for sugar science kits, provided by the North Dakota Ag in the Classroom Program in conjunction with Red River Valley Sugarbeet Growers Association.

“I encourage educators to take advantage of this opportunity to embed agriculture into their classrooms,” Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring said. “Students will learn about agriculture and science through STEM activities that align with North Dakota standards. With ag literacy week and state and national ag celebrations coming up in March, this is the perfect time to incorporate these materials.”

The first 25 qualified educators to apply will receive the sugar science kits that incorporate science, technology, engineering and math, along with supplies and additional educational resources. Teachers have until April 23, 2025, to use the kits and provide education to their students. Teachers must fill out follow up surveys from the North Dakota Department of Agriculture for reporting purposes. The application is available at https://www.ndda.nd.gov/sugarscience.
