BISMARCK – Beekeepers have started moving beehives into the state and are reminded to get landowner permission and register their hive locations with the North Dakota Department of Agriculture.

BISMARCK – Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring issued the following statement following the appointment of North Dakota Grain Growers Association President Dennis Haugen to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Farm, Ranch, and Rural Communities Committee (FRRCC) by EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler:

BISMARCK – The North Dakota Department of Agriculture (NDDA) has received notification from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that they have ordered the cancellation of the registrations for Xtendimax, FeXapan and Engenia, products used in over-the-top applications on Dicamba-tolerant soybeans.

BISMARCK – The North Dakota Department of Agriculture (NDDA) is reviewing how a recent court decision will affect the 24c Special Local Needs (SLN) label for Xtendimax, FeXapan and Engenia, products used in over-the-top applications on Dicamba-tolerant soybeans.

BISMARCK – The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit issued a ruling yesterday that immediately banned the registrations of Xtendimax, FeXapan and Engenia, products used in over-the-top applications on Dicamba-tolerant soybeans and cotton. This ruling was based on a determination that the continued registration of the products violated the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). It immediately bans the sale and use of these products nationwide.

BISMARCK – “I understand there is a great deal of frustration and worry about the loss of Dicamba as an option after yesterday’s court decision to ban it,” Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring said. “We will continue to monitor developments around any appeals of the ruling. In the meantime, it would be prudent to explore other broadleaf herbicides that control weeds in soybeans. Please contact your crop consultant, agronomist, extension agent or refer to the NDSU Extension Weed Control Guide for alternate options.”

BISMARCK – Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has announced North Dakota Agricultural Products Utilization Commission (APUC) awards for eight projects. The requests totaling $288,187 were approved at the APUC quarterly meeting May 21 in Bismarck.

BISMARCK – The United States Department of Agriculture has released details for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP). CFAP will assist agricultural producers who have suffered a five percent-or-greater price decline from mid-January 2020 to mid-April 2020 or who had losses due to market supply chain disruptions due to COVID-19 and face additional significant market costs.
