BISMARCK – The Pay-Dak Dairy, LLC, received the 2023 Commissioner’s Award of Dairy Excellence during the 2024 North Dakota Dairy Convention, held today in Bismarck.
Jonas and Sam Heyl took over the dairy in 2016 and milk 300 cows on a farm that started in 1941 and dairy that restarted in 1985. They farm 3,000 acres growing alfalfa, small grains, corn, soybeans and canola. They also have a hoop greenhouse and grow produce for their local community.
“The Pay-Dak Dairy has consistent, high-quality milk and a remarkable inspection record,” Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring said. “Despite the challenges, it is encouraging to know that the Heyl family is committed to the dairy lifestyle and producing an excellent product for consumers.”
The Pay-Dak Dairy is located near Towner, ND, and is a Grade A member of Dairy Farmers of America. Their milk is processed into specialty cheeses in Pollock, SD.
