BISMARCK – Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has awarded grants totaling $80,000 for industry research of the grape, fruit and wine industry in North Dakota.
“North Dakota’s grape and wine industry continues to grow,” Goehring said. “The research funded by this grant will help keep that industry advancing.”
Organizations receiving grants are:
- North Dakota Grape and Wine Association - $27,410 to lead a North Dakota grape and wine industry marketing campaign.
- North Dakota State University – $52,590 to support research using high-throughput phenotyping to improve the efficiency and speed of grapevine cultivar development.
Grant applications were screened by a committee, which provided the Agriculture Commissioner with recommendations for awarding grants for the 2023-2025 biennium.
