BISMARCK – The North Dakota Department of Agriculture (NDDA) is holding a Farm to School video essay contest open to all Bismarck Public Schools fourth grade classrooms. NDDA is producing a Farm to School video this summer that will highlight Farm to School activities in the state and local farms involved in the program. The winning classroom will receive a summer farm field trip and will be featured in the video.

“The goal of Farm to School is to connect students with local food and give them opportunities to learn where their food comes from,” Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring said. “The video essay contest will provide greater understanding of what the program means to students and gives them a chance to visit a local farm to see how it operates.”

Students will answer questions relating to what Farm to School means to them in their videos. Video submissions will be reviewed by NDDA, the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction and Bismarck Public Schools local foods coordinators.

Full contest details may be found at www.ndda.nd.gov/F2SVideoContest and submissions are due by May 2, 2025. Questions may be directed to NDDA Local Foods Marketing Specialist Jenna Nieters at 701-328-2659 or jnieters@nd.gov.
